About Dr Katherine Campbell

Dr Katherine Campbell is a registered clinical psychologist with over a decade of experience in both the public and private sectors.  With a curious and open mind, Katherine’s interest in human behaviour and her belief that each person has their own strengths to carry them through their life, clients get to experience a shift in their thinking and perspective of life and the concerns which bring them to her office.

With a PhD in Psychiatry from the University of Melbourne, and a Clinical Doctorate in Psychology, Katherine works with adults who present with a range of difficulties.  Primarily working with individuals experiencing anxiety or depressive symptoms, she also has experience treating a number of more specific presentations.  These include, but are not limited to, Body Focused Repetitive Behaviour Disorder, stress management in Year 12 students and offering treatment to those experiencing chronic pain issues.

The main therapeutic approaches which Katherine uses include:  Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behaviour Therapy (DBT).  With training in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Katherine is also able to assist in the treatment of trauma and anxiety disorders.

Utilising the broad range of psychological treatment approaches, Katherine is able to tailor a program to suit the needs of each individual client.  With this individualized treatment, which is offered in a supportive and welcoming environment, she aims to help her clients to identify their strengths, learn the necessary skills to manage stressors as they arise and provide them the confidence they need to move forward once treatment is complete.

Consultations and Fees

Sessions generally last 55 minutes. There are some afterhours appointments available, including appointments on a Saturday. The fee for a session is $275 (inclusive of GST). Payments are processed through a software program. During the initial meeting credit card or debit card details will be inputted into a secure program and can be saved to allow for ease of future transactions. After each meeting an invoice will be sent to your email address. This invoice can be used to claim back a Medicare or private health insurance rebate.

Medicare – The rebate offered by Medicare is $137 for each session. In order to be eligible for the Medicare rebate you will need to obtain a referral from your GP as part of the Better Access to Mental Health Care initiative. The Medicare rebate covers six sessions per year, with a further four sessions available if the client meets criteria for extended treatment.

Private health insurance – If you have private health insurance you can use the electronic invoice to claim back directly from your fund. Private health funds offer different rebates depending in your insurance plan. Please contact your fund directly to discuss the available rebate with your provider.

Private payment – there is no GP referral needed for individuals who wish to pay for sessions without rebate. There are no restrictions on the number of sessions per year available to those making private payments.

Please note that the practice does not have reception and appointments need to be prearranged via phone or email. Dr Campbell will respond directly to any request for information or new referral.
